Michael Joseph Mitchell is a Chicago based actor and singer, with six previous cabaret acts to his credit. He has also appeared at Chicago Shakespeare, Writers Theatre, Drury Lane Oakbrook, Porchlight Music Theatre, Lyric Opera, and others.

Shaina Taub is a two-time Tony Award winner for the book and score of the Broadway musical SUFFS, in which she also starred as Alice Paul. The New York Times called her “a gravitational force” in the arts. She collaborated with Elton John on The Devil Wears Prada, and created musical adaptations of Twelfth Night and As You Like It at the Public Theater. Her performance credits include Hadestown, Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, and Old Hats. An Atlantic Records artist, she has released several albums and was named to the TIME100 Next list.

Hildegard’s Bork’n Bash: A Fundraising Concert

Suzanne and Jonathan’s dog, Hildegard Von Borken, underwent life saving surgery back in February (It was a success!) and have decided to put on a concert to help raise funds for her vet bills. They will present an eclectic spread of music written and inspired by Hildegard Von Bingen (The mystic Saint their dog is named after). This will also include the premiere of Jonathan’s set of songs written for Suzanne titled “3 Virtues” which uses chant and text from Hildegard’s “Ordo Virtutum”. Come and help support one of the goodest dogs in the city all while listening to some amazing music!

Ágnes Lakatos and Tibor Csuhaj-Barna are a voice and bass duo from Budapest, Hungary, who regularly perform throughout Central Europe and abroad. They will be on a U.S. tour stopping in Chicago to team up with Amos Gillespie on saxophone, Gustavo Cortinas on drums and Carl Kennedy on piano, for a performance at the Checkout on Thursday, July 2nd at 7:30PM.
They will be featuring originals and standards in a unique cross-pollination of styles where Hungarian folk intersects with the history of American jazz. “Ágnes Lakatos is one of the most defining personalities of Hungarian vocal jazz, both as a performer and teacher. De Ryke and Schlosberg perform Lofstrom

Voice and piano duo Ryan De Ryke and Daniel Schlosberg have been working with composer Doug Lofstrom since 2017 to record Lofstrom’s vocal music. The first selection of this was released in 2025 on the album “Myths and Accidents,” on Diversions/Divine Art Records. Tonight’s program includes works from that recording, several of Lofstrom’s new songs and selections from the American songbook featuring the duo with Lofstrom on bass.
