F.W. Murnau’s 1922 Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror is one of the great landmarks of silent cinema and one of the most influential horror films ever made. More than a century later, Max Schreck’s unforgettable Count Orlok’s skeletal frame, claw-like fingers and looming shadow still get under the skin.
The film’s strange, dreamlike imagery helped establish the visual language of cinematic horror and has influenced generations of filmmakers and artists.
Chicago composer Tim Corpus has created a new original score for piano, percussion and string quartet, commissioned by Access Contemporary Music and performed live alongside the film.
