ABOUT
The CheckOut is a hub for musical creativity, community, and wellness—where people come not just to hear music, but to live with it.
Located in a transformed former 7-Eleven, the CheckOut is operated by Chicago-based nonprofit Access Contemporary Music. It serves ACM’s mission of making music a visible, accessible, and transformative part of everyday life—through concerts, lessons, and creative experiences that support well-being and connection.
We believe that music isn’t just art—it’s good for you. That’s why we offer high-quality, affordable music lessons for all ages, and present boundary-pushing performances by living composers, jazz artists, film scorers, and more. Whether you’re listening, learning, or just exploring, the CheckOut invites you to make music part of your wellness journey.
As the only dedicated chamber music venue on Chicago’s North Side, the CheckOut features a 60-seat performance space, a bar, and four teaching rooms for private music instruction. Our innovative programs include concerts of new music, a film series highlighting powerful scores, jazz, cabaret, and more—always focused on creativity, community, and accessibility.
