Inheritance is what we carry forward, and what we make new. This evening moves between musical generations, pairing works that have endured with music heard for the first time, and at its center is the World Premiere of Chen Yi’s “My Childhood Memories,” a solo violin work commissioned by Nova Linea Musica.
Memories rendered in sound, filtered through one of the most distinctive compositional voices of our time. The evening opens with a short documentary film made as the work took shape, and Chen Yi travels to Chicago to be in the room as her music reaches an audience for the first time.
